A stress test administered to a patient exercising on a treadmill while being closely monitored. This test involves taking pictures or images of the patient’s heart after the injection of a radioactive substance, known as a tracer. When combined with exercise, the pictures can detect areas of the heart that are not receiving enough blood flow and allows the doctor to be able to better detect heart problems that may not be present at rest.
