Coulis Cardiology Nuclear Department Receives Reaccreditation

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. – Coulis Cardiology recently received its reaccreditation for Nuclear/PET in the area of myocardial perfusion imaging from the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC).

According to the American Heart Association, myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI) is a noninvasive imaging test that shows how well blood flows through your heart muscle. It can show areas of the heart muscle that aren’t getting enough blood flow. This test is often called a nuclear stress test. It can also show how well the heart muscle is pumping.

There are two steps to the accreditation process. First, a facility conducts a self-evaluation, which includes actual case studies, using IAC standards and guidelines. The IAC board of directors reviews the self-evaluation and case studies for approval in the final step of the process.

The IAC accreditation is a “seal of approval” that patients can rely on as indication that the facility has been carefully critiqued on all aspects of its operations considered relevant by medical experts in the field of nuclear cardiology.

Coulis Cardiology has been accredited for eight years. The recent reaccreditation will last for three years.
